Submission for print publication is closed until December 2021.

Submission for online publication is always open for rolling publication.

Submission Guidelines

  • Must be Microsoft Office .doc or .docx, google doc, or pdf.

  • Can be any length greater than or equal to 800 words. Bibliography and notes will be part of the word count. 

  • Article should have been written for a class, thesis, academic project, or must be a book or film review. 

  • Articles can be nominated by a professor, self-nominated (with accompanying letter from the professor), or purely self-nominated.

  • Article can be within any discipline, but it must be focused on a historical study. 

  • Students cannot submit more than two articles per submission period. 

  • Submissions cannot have been previously submitted to Past in Process or published anywhere else. 

  • Submissions should follow an appropriate citation style, but Chicago will be preferred. Please use the following link if you would like an example of preferred citation style: https://rb.gy/ntp6eo

  • Any images that appear in the submission should be properly licensed and cited, and must appear within the text at appropriate points rather than at the end. 

  • When submitting, do not place any identifying information within the body of the paper, as we will use a blind review process. 

  • Upon acceptance, you will be contacted and must be willing to work with the editorial team for 1-2 months during the editorial process.
